Mission statement: Why I'm here.

RP4funandprofit is being set up for the following reason.

To discuss ways for RPers to make more money in a way conducive to furthering RP on our realms.

This will include, but not be limited to:
1) Straight out profit
2) Conducting or sponsoring community events
3) RP!

More to follow, I'm actually off to my IRL work.

  1. I'll definately be keeping an eye on this blog.

    I already have one suggestion:

There's an idea on my server that's been kicked around, but never quite tried of having a once monthly 'fair' where crafters all come together in one area to offer up their wares for barter/sale. They would bring rough materials rather than actual items, in varying amounts, and others seeking those goods could meet them either with or without the materials that they need.

Say you're wanting a fine leather cloak for your rogue...there's a leatherworker there.

But wait! You don't have the materials and neither do they...why, look over there...it's a skinner/miner that has everything but the Frozen Orb.

If anyone is able to try this out (my days tend to be to hectic to organize) please let those of us on other realms know.

  2. I've considered something like that as a guild fundraiser, actually. As a community service/activity, it's great. When it comes to insuring the value of the provided service? Maybe not so much. Maybe giving the customer carte blanche selection is bad in this case.

In all my dealings, I admit to some preference to healer classes. In this case, perhaps cater to the levelers by class and certain level ranges. Don't offer twink items at the discounted prices, but have them there for a click fee. To maximize the benefit for the community, I'd highly recoomend selecting your crafters by who gets skillups rather than by just assigning anybody. Limiting crafting to one per person, and only for that character (as opposed to "It's for my alt") keeps the supply limited to demand levels. By helping the crafters avoid flooding the market, you also ensure that they have a career after the fact too.
